Before long, all the Quaker meet<strong>in</strong>gs north and south had followed<br />

Philadelphia's lead and abolished slavery, f<strong>in</strong>ally enforc<strong>in</strong>g the decree with<br />

threat of expulsion. By the late 1770s and early 1780s, slavery among the<br />

Quakers <strong>in</strong> America had been voluntarily and totally abolished.<br />
