Approximately 3888 (duplicated) students, and 1504 (nonduplicated) students received<br />

mental health services at SBHCs in the most recent fiscal year. These are not contract hours<br />

but the number of students served or visits for last year.<br />

School-based Behavioral <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Services</strong>, available in many schools in the area, provided<br />

screening, clinical evaluation, individual and group therapy, in school counseling, family<br />

counseling, and case management, as well as substance abuse education for students,<br />

family, and the community.<br />

Lafayette Parish School System- School Based Therapy, Assessment, and Referrals<br />

(STARS), provides on site services by a master's level clinician at Parish schools, funded<br />

through District general funds.<br />

Iberia Parish: 16th Judicial District Family services Program, funded through the District<br />

Attorney's Office.<br />

Region V<br />

OMH has contracts for school based mental health services and served 378 youth for over<br />

6,042 hours of direct service during the fiscal year 2009-10<br />

<strong>Services</strong> included individual and group therapy, education and consultation<br />

School based mental staff include licensed social workers and licensed professional<br />

counselors<br />

Every school in the Region has implemented PBIS at some level<br />

Families of SWLA- Training, Support, & Advocacy to assist<br />

LaPTIC provides information, referral, and assistance with educational issues<br />

CPSB Behavior Team offers school wide support services for students with behavioral<br />

issues.<br />

Calcasieu Alternative School is an alternative school for grades 6-12, utilizes the Boys<br />

Town Behavior program and offers onsite counseling.<br />

Beauregard Alternative School is a boot camp style alternative school, utilizes PBIS and has<br />

an onsite social worker for counseling.<br />

Region VI<br />

4,966 students received mental health services at SBHCs<br />

<strong>Services</strong> were primarily evaluation and counseling<br />

Region VII<br />

2,063 students received mental health services at SBHCs<br />

PBIS offered in many schools<br />

Webster Parish School Board has a School Psychologist who assists with IEPs, behavior<br />

plans, targeted interventions, and PBIS contract staff at various schools<br />

Claiborne Parish School Board offers anger management and social skills groups<br />

Region VIII<br />

For the fiscal year 2009-10, 779 students received mental health services at the SBHCs, for a<br />

total of 2,177 contact hours<br />
