If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace<br />

the output shaft.<br />

2. MEASURE PLANETARY PINION GEAR THRUST<br />

CLEARANCE<br />

Using a feeler gauge, measure the planetary pinion<br />

gear thrust clearance.<br />

Standard clearance:<br />

0.20 - 0.50 mm (0.0079 - 0.0197 in.)<br />

If the clearance is nonstandard, inspect the planetary<br />

gear thrust washer.<br />

If necessary, replace the planetary gear assembly.<br />

REAR PLANETARY GEAR AND OUTPUT<br />

SHAFT ASSEMBLY<br />

1. INSTALL OIL SEAL RINGS<br />

(a) Coat the three oil seal rings with ATF.<br />

(b) Contract the oil seal rings, and install them onto<br />

the output shaft.<br />

NOTICE: Do not spread the ring ends too much.<br />

HINT: After installing the oil seal rings, check that they<br />

rotate smoothly.<br />

2. INSTALL NEW OIL SEAL RING<br />

Coat a new oil seal ring with ATF and install it to the<br />

intermediate shaft.<br />

NOTICE: Do not spread the ring too much.<br />

HINT: After installing the oil seal ring, check that it rotates<br />

smoothly.<br />

3. INSTALL PLANETARY RING GEAR<br />

(a) Coat the race with petroleum jelly and install it<br />

onto the intermediate shaft.<br />

Race diameter:<br />

Inside mm (in.) Outside mm (in.)<br />

Race 21.6 (0.850) 41.4 (1.630)
