[Pt(P(C6H6N)8)Cl3JH(C6H6NH2) ; <strong>and</strong> toluidinium phosphotritoluididetrichloroplatinite,<br />

[Pt(P(C7H8N)3)Cl3JH(C7H7NH2).<br />

A. Cahours<strong>and</strong>H. Gal prepared platinous quatertriethylarsinechloride, [Pt(As(C2H8)3)4JCl2 ;<br />

platinous trans-dlchlorobistriethylarsine, [Pt(As(CaH5)8)8Cl2J ; <strong>and</strong> platinous cis-dlchlorobistriethylamine.<br />

K. A. Jensen measured the dipole moments of cia- <strong>and</strong> tmn«-compounds with<br />

the phosphines, arsines, <strong>and</strong> stibines; <strong>and</strong> he prepared platinous dichlorobistributylarsine,<br />

[Pt((C4H B)3As)2Cl2]. R. Bunsen prepared platinous dichloroxycacodyl, [Pt(As(CH3)40)Cl8J,<br />

<strong>and</strong> the cacodyl compounds were studied by K. A. Jensen <strong>and</strong> E. Frederiksen. A. W. Hofmann,<br />

<strong>and</strong> K. A. Jensen prepared platinous dicbioroblstriethylstiblne, [Pt(Sb(CaH6)8)aCl2] ;<br />

<strong>and</strong> K. A. Jensen, platinous dichloroblstributylstibine, [Pt((C4H9)3Sb)2Cl8J; <strong>and</strong> platinous<br />

dlchlorobistrlphenylstibine, [Pt{(C6H6)3Sb)2Cl2], <strong>and</strong> he measured their dipole moments.<br />

Chloroplatiilites.—L. N. Vauquelin, 10 <strong>and</strong> G. Magnus prepared amm<strong>on</strong>ium<br />

chloroplatinite, (NH4]I2PtCl4, by evaporating a mixed soln. of platinous chloride<br />

<strong>and</strong> amm<strong>on</strong>ium chloride in hydrochloric acid, <strong>and</strong> drying the crystals at 100°.<br />

M. Peyr<strong>on</strong>e saturated a soln. of platinous chloride in hydrochloric acid with<br />

amm<strong>on</strong>ium carb<strong>on</strong>ate, evaporated the soln. to dryness <strong>on</strong> a water-bath, washed<br />

the reddish residue repeatedly with alcohol to remove the amm<strong>on</strong>ium chloride,<br />

exposed the product in air so as to remove all traces of alcohol, dissolved the<br />

product in boiling water, <strong>and</strong> filtered the hot liquid. When the liquid is allowed<br />

to cool slowly, prismatic crystals are deposited. L». F. Nils<strong>on</strong> obtained the salt<br />

by adding amm<strong>on</strong>ium chloride to the mother-liquors obtained in the preparati<strong>on</strong><br />

of very soluble chloroplatinites. J. Thomsen added hydrochloroplatinic acid to a<br />

hot soln. of potassium chloroplatinite, added amm<strong>on</strong>ium chloride to the filtered<br />

liquid, <strong>and</strong> evaporated the liquid for crystallizati<strong>on</strong>. P. Berthier added amm<strong>on</strong>ium
