Medical specialists, paramedics and legal advisors will also be included on a part time<br />
and consultative basis. It is important that pr<strong>of</strong>essional personnel in particular who are<br />
involved in the SEG on a full time basis should also play a part in the in-service<br />
training <strong>of</strong> staff at the SEG as well as related personnel.<br />
In the light <strong>of</strong> the above the following recommendations were made (Urbani 1981) :<br />
RECOMMENDATION 16 : The training <strong>of</strong> educationists (orthodidaetics), who are<br />
responsible for designing remedial programmes for children with learning problems<br />
with a view to the remedial or class teachers at schools implementing those is an<br />
urgent matter.<br />
RECOMMENDATION 18 : Within the context <strong>of</strong> the SEG the task <strong>of</strong> the school<br />
social worker should include family guidance, socialization <strong>of</strong> the child and dealing<br />
with problems that may arise in the transition from mainstream education to special<br />
education or vice versa.<br />
(2) Registration with a statutory teacher's council<br />
It is imperative that the existing pr<strong>of</strong>essional personnel involved in the tasks <strong>of</strong><br />
evaluation and diagnosis <strong>of</strong> and providing assistance and guidance for impaired and<br />
handicapped children and who have undergone predominantly educational training,
