Teacher qualifications and classroom assignment. In <strong>or</strong>der to determine whether<br />

there were statistically significant initial differences in the continuous variables age,<br />

Pueblo Head Start experience, total Head Start experience, and total experience in the<br />

field <strong>of</strong> early childhood education between teachers in half- and full-day classrooms, one<br />

independent samples t-test including classroom assignment (half-day <strong>or</strong> full-day<br />

classroom assignment) as the grouping variable and teachers‘ age as a dependent variable<br />

and one MANOVA test including classroom assignment (two levels: half-day <strong>or</strong> full-day<br />

classroom assignment) as the independent variable and teachers‘ Pueblo Head Start<br />

experience, total Head Start experience, <strong>or</strong> total experience in the field <strong>of</strong> early childhood<br />

education as dependent variables were conducted.<br />

An independent samples t-test including classroom assignment as the grouping<br />

variable and teachers‘ age as the dependent variable revealed no statistically significant<br />

differences in age between teachers in half- and full-day classrooms (t = .65, ns).<br />

A MANOVA including classroom assignment as the independent variable and<br />

teachers‘ Pueblo Head Start experience, total Head Start experience, and total experience<br />

in the field <strong>of</strong> early childhood education as the dependent variables revealed no<br />

statistically significant differences in Pueblo Head Start experience (F (1, 25) = .21, ns),<br />

total Head Start experience (F (1, 25) = .15, ns), and total experience in the field <strong>of</strong> early<br />

childhood education (F (1, 25) = .18, ns) between teachers in half- and full-day<br />

classrooms.<br />
