Melissa S. Mincic graduated from Trinidad High School, Trinidad, Col<strong>or</strong>ado, in 1998.<br />

She received her Associate <strong>of</strong> Arts with a concentration in Psychology from Trinidad<br />

State Juni<strong>or</strong> College in 2000, her Bachel<strong>or</strong> <strong>of</strong> Arts in Psychology with a min<strong>or</strong> in<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Writing from the University <strong>of</strong> Col<strong>or</strong>ado at Col<strong>or</strong>ado Springs in 2002, and<br />

her Master <strong>of</strong> Arts in Applied Developmental Psychology from Ge<strong>or</strong>ge Mason University<br />

in 2007. She graduated Valedict<strong>or</strong>ian from Trinidad State Juni<strong>or</strong> College and graduated<br />

Magna Cum Laude and with High Distinction in Psychology from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Col<strong>or</strong>ado. In 2000, Ms. Mincic was listed in Who‘s Who Among Students in American<br />

Juni<strong>or</strong> Colleges; was named part <strong>of</strong> the All-Col<strong>or</strong>ado Academic Team; and was named<br />

Trinidad State Juni<strong>or</strong> College‘s Student <strong>of</strong> the Year, Student Leader <strong>of</strong> the Year, and<br />

Student Scholar Athlete <strong>of</strong> the Year. In 2004, she was selected as a William A. M<strong>or</strong>rill<br />

Public Service Fellow and w<strong>or</strong>ked at Caliber Associates, Inc., in Fairfax, Virginia. In<br />

2006, she was selected as one <strong>of</strong> Ge<strong>or</strong>ge Mason University‘s two Outstanding DBS<br />

Doct<strong>or</strong>al Students. In 2008, she was selected as a Postdoct<strong>or</strong>al Fellow in the Early<br />

Childhood Special Education Leadership Program in School <strong>of</strong> Education and Human<br />

Development‘s Center f<strong>or</strong> Evidence-Based Practices in Early Learning at the University<br />

<strong>of</strong> Col<strong>or</strong>ado Denver. Ms. Mincic was awarded an AERA/IES <strong>Dissertation</strong> Fellowship<br />

Grant to complete her dissertation research and has also co-auth<strong>or</strong>ed journal articles<br />

published in Death Studies and Aging and Mental Health.<br />
