all teachers throughout the implementation <strong>of</strong> the intervention. Teachers were encouraged<br />

to be honest in completing the TASEL and were assured that any constructive criticism<br />

would help improve future intervention eff<strong>or</strong>ts, but they may still have felt the pressures<br />

<strong>of</strong> social desirability when responding.<br />

In addition to quantitative evidence, teachers also provided qualitative evidence<br />

supp<strong>or</strong>ting intervention implementation during inf<strong>or</strong>mal debriefing meetings. Generally,<br />

teachers felt that reading each st<strong>or</strong>ybook three times within one week was too <strong>of</strong>ten and<br />

also that having regular volunteers in the classroom to assist the other teacher(s) with<br />

activities including non-participating children would help them to better implement<br />

intervention methods. Still, teachers were supp<strong>or</strong>tive <strong>of</strong> the intervention and believed it<br />

useful in enhancing their children‘s development.<br />

Because teachers play a significant role in administering intervention methods, it<br />

is imperative that they believe the intervention effective and feel that they have the<br />

necessary resources in <strong>or</strong>der to implement intervention methods. Both the quantitative<br />

and qualitative research findings provide evidence that teachers supp<strong>or</strong>ted the<br />

implementation <strong>of</strong> the current intervention, but the potential effects <strong>of</strong> social desirability<br />

on teacher rep<strong>or</strong>ts in this study should not be underestimated. Although teachers<br />

rep<strong>or</strong>tedly supp<strong>or</strong>ted the intervention, means <strong>of</strong> improving intervention methods should<br />

continually be sought, as should means <strong>of</strong> obtaining unbiased rep<strong>or</strong>ting from teachers.<br />
