Manage habitat to move listed species toward recovery and de-listing. Prevent listing of<br />
proposed and sensitive species.<br />
• Implement priority conservation strategies (see Table 530. <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Padres</strong> NF Conservation<br />
<strong>Strategy</strong>).<br />
• Use vegetation management practices to reduce habitat loss due to catastrophic fires.<br />
• Work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and <strong>National</strong> Oceanographic<br />
and<br />
Atmospheric Administration Fisheries to develop recovery plans for federally listed species.<br />
Implement <strong>Forest</strong> Service actions as recommended in recovery plans for federally listed<br />
species.<br />
• Establish and maintain a working relationship with county and city planning departments to<br />
ensure coordination on those development projects that are in close<br />
proximity to the national<br />
forest.<br />
• Coordinate with California Department of Fish and Game regarding fish stocking and<br />
nonnative fisheries management to implement measures to resolve conflicts with threatened,<br />
endangered, proposed, candidate, and sensitive species and habitats.<br />
• Cooperate with federal and state agencies<br />
and non-governmental organizations, to conduct<br />
educational, interpretive, and other management activities to reduce the use<br />
of lead<br />
ammunition and other sources of toxic materials that are harmful<br />
to wildlife.<br />
