Maintain and im prove habitat for fish, wildlife, and plants, including those with the following<br />
designations: game species, harvest species,<br />
management indicator species, and watch list<br />
species.<br />
• Manage State<br />
of California designated Wild Trout Streams to maintain high quality habitat<br />
for wild trout<br />
populations.<br />
• Coordinate and form partnerships with the California<br />
Department of Fish & Game and other<br />
cooperators,<br />
such as <strong>Part</strong>ners in Flight, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Quail<br />
Unlimited to<br />
maintain and improve fish, wildlife and plant habitat.<br />
• Monitor <strong>Management</strong> Indicator Species<br />
(MIS).<br />
• Monitor habitat for ecological health indicators (e.g., tamarisk, aquatic macroinvertebrates,<br />
bullfrogs).<br />
• Maintain de veloped wildlife water sources and other habitat improvement structures.<br />
• Protect habitat<br />
during fire suppression activities where feasible.<br />
• Annually treat<br />
200-300 acres of vegetation for wildlife habitat improvement.<br />
• Cooperate with other agencies, partners, and other national forest programs to maintain<br />
and<br />
improve landscape level habitat conditions and ecological<br />
processes over the long-term for<br />
landscape linkages,<br />
wildlife movement corridors, key deer and bighorn sheep fawning,<br />
lambing, and winter ranges, and raptor nesting sites.<br />
