exotic wildlife species to aide in the recovery of threatened and endangered species. Vegetative<br />
management emphasis includes fuels management around populated areas and within adjoining<br />
wildernesses. <strong>Forest</strong> health issues such as the spread of Sudden Oak Death, which holds the<br />
potential to cause devastation of coastal-forested habitats are addressed. The North Coast Ridge<br />
Road will remain closed to public vehicular and mountain bike use, but open to foot and horse<br />
equestrian traffic.<br />
Analyze the potential for visitor information opportunities on the south coast. Provide continuing<br />
opportunities for day-use and camping, including the maintenance, upgrading or construction of<br />
visitor facilities along California State Highway 1. Communication and administrative site<br />
support facilities will be developed to improve management of the Place. Adaptive reuse of<br />
existing structures will remain the preferred way of addressing future facility needs. Manage<br />
recreation use and related facilities to maintain scenic integrity. Protect and enhance scenic<br />
qualities through cooperative efforts with CalTrans, California State Parks, and others.<br />
Project management decisions will be consistent with the enforceable policies of the California<br />
Coastal Act and the Big Sur Coast <strong>Land</strong> Use <strong>Plan</strong> to the maximum extent practicable.<br />
The Brazil Ranch will be a place for conference and educational opportunities focused on<br />
environmental conservation, stewardship and sustainability. Managed public access and<br />
recreation opportunities will be provided. Traditional land uses and resource conservation<br />
activities can be showcased and studied. Other small-scale special-uses may be authorized.<br />
