11. BRAKE SYSTEM<br />

Rear Drum Brake<br />

To use vacuum cleaner or other alternatives to<br />

avoid danger caused from dusts.<br />

Caution<br />

Inhaling brake lining ashes may cause<br />

disorders of respiration system, therefore,<br />

never use compressed air or dry brush to<br />

clean brake parts.<br />

Brake performance will be reduced by<br />

grease on brake lining.<br />

Remove wheel and brake drum.<br />

Inspection<br />

Check brake drum for damage or wear out, and<br />

replace it if necessary.<br />

Measure the inner diameter of brake drum and<br />

record the max. value.<br />

Allowable limit: rear (110.5mm)<br />

Caution<br />

Clean the rust onto the brake drum with<br />

#120 sand-paper.<br />

Measure the inner diameter of brake drum<br />

with micrometer.<br />

Measure the thickness of brake lining at three<br />

points (both ends and center).<br />

If the thickness is less than specified value or if<br />

it is contaminated by oil or grease, replace as a<br />

set.<br />

Service limit: Rear: 2.0 mm<br />

Removal<br />

Caution<br />

Brake linings must be replaced as a shoes.<br />

Remove the brake linings from brake panel.<br />
