The Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Interdisciplinary Science–Aeronautics<br />

is conferred on students who successfully complete 125 semester<br />

credit hours <strong>of</strong> study shown in the program <strong>of</strong> study outlined here.<br />

The program provides options to students wishing to pursue careers<br />

in the aeronautics industry. Students interested in flight should<br />

see the B.S. Aeronautical Science–Flight program <strong>of</strong>fered by the<br />

College <strong>of</strong> Aeronautics.<br />

The degree is flexible, tailored to the individual student’s needs<br />

and emphasizes broad training in science. The graduate will have<br />

a well-rounded expertise in science and aeronautics, and will have<br />

acquired specific career tools. Because <strong>of</strong> the freedom to customize<br />

the program, most students graduate with one or more minors in<br />

addition to the bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary science.<br />

The military science program prepares <strong>Florida</strong> Tech ROTC cadets<br />

to serve as commissioned <strong>of</strong>ficers in the United States Army,<br />

Army Reserve and Army National Guard. Technical, scientific<br />

and military studies are incorporated into the curriculum with<br />

emphasis on applied leadership and problem solving skills.<br />

Current freshmen and sophomores with no prior military service<br />

who seek an ROTC scholarship may attend the Leader’s Training<br />

Course between their second and third years. Students incur no<br />

service commitment on completion <strong>of</strong> this course. This 32-day<br />

camp provides students with basic military and problem solving<br />

skills, combined with physical training.<br />

The Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Interdisciplinary Science – Military<br />

Science is earned by satisfying the degree requirements listed for<br />

the bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary science and completing<br />

the advanced military science program as described under<br />

“College <strong>of</strong> Psychology and Liberal Arts.” All military science<br />

(MSC) courses taken are applicable to this degree.<br />

Mathematics (5–9). All applicants must meet the current entrance<br />

requirements for teacher preparation programs established by the<br />

<strong>Florida</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Education. Formal application is made<br />

during the sophomore year. Application procedures and requirements<br />

may be found in the department’s student handbook.<br />
