This two-course core sequence familiarizes students with the<br />
principle concepts and tools used in the main foundation disciplines<br />
<strong>of</strong> business, including accounting, financial statement<br />
analysis, economics, marketing, management principles, finance,<br />
business law and statistics. Students also learn how the various<br />
disciplines are integrated by completing two substantive projects.<br />
These courses can be completed in one semester and are designed<br />
not only for individuals with undergraduate degrees in business,<br />
but also for students with undergraduate degrees in other fields.<br />
Full-time international students must register for at least one additional<br />
course. For more information, international students should<br />
consult with the associate dean <strong>of</strong> academics.<br />
*<strong>Florida</strong> Tech Melbourne campus fast track students who are majoring in business<br />
can substitute an additional graduate level business elective for BUS 5601.<br />
Core Courses<br />
The MBA degree requires completion <strong>of</strong> a common set <strong>of</strong> six core<br />
courses including the capstone course in strategic management.<br />
These required courses are designed to prepare the student to<br />
respond to the complex business decisions that arise in today’s<br />
rapidly changing environment. As such, these courses incorporate<br />
either case studies or projects that require extensive qualitative<br />
and/or quantitative analysis.<br />

Electives<br />
In addition to the eight required courses, students are also required<br />
to take four elective courses (three credit hours each). Electives<br />
can be taken with the faculty adviser’s approval from other graduate-level<br />
<strong>of</strong>ferings in the Nathan M. Bisk College <strong>of</strong> Business or<br />
other colleges or academic units.<br />
Accounting Emphasis for CPA Certification<br />
Melbourne campus students with a bachelor’s degree in accounting<br />
(or the equivalent) may elect to take four courses from the following<br />
list to complete the MBA degree and achieve an accounting<br />
emphasis directed toward sitting for the Uniform Certified Public<br />
Accountant (CPA) Examination. These courses will substitute for<br />
Managerial Accounting (BUS 5431) and three MBA electives.<br />

The Master <strong>of</strong> Business Administration – Accounting degree<br />
program may be completed in two years or less and provides the<br />
high-level knowledge and range <strong>of</strong> skills to meet the challenges <strong>of</strong><br />
today’s complex global business.<br />
Rooted in the case method approach, this intensive MBA program<br />
<strong>of</strong>fers a uniquely collaborative, hands-on education. The program<br />
covers accounting policy.<br />
The two-course sequence Essentials <strong>of</strong> Business Development 1<br />
and 2 (BUS 5601 and BUS 5602) culminates in a fully integrated<br />
business plan. Each student has the opportunity to choose a<br />
business and progressively bring it to fruition through critical<br />
business concepts from statistics and managerial economics to<br />
marketing.<br />
Students actively engage in case study analysis and exercise leadership<br />
and teamwork skills. The program combines academic<br />
principles with practical, real-world applications to result in a solid<br />
business foundation.<br />
