CVE 5072 CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS, LAW AND SPECIFICATIONS<br />

(3 credits). Includes liability, real property and water rights; environmental and comprehensive<br />

planning laws and requirements; evidence, expert witness, claims, disputes<br />

and arbitration; contract specifications and drawings; resolution <strong>of</strong> differences; change<br />

orders and contract modifications; and case studies. Prerequisites: CVE 4070.<br />

CVE 5073 CONSTRUCTION COST ENGINEERING (3 credits). Explores the<br />

application <strong>of</strong> cost engineering principles, and estimating within a project management<br />

framework in conjunction with scope definition, quality control, planning and<br />

scheduling, risk management and loss prevention techniques, local conditions, information<br />

and communications, and working relations with stakeholders. Prerequisites:<br />

CVE 4000.<br />

CVE 5074 LEADING CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS (3 credits).<br />

Fundamentals <strong>of</strong> leadership and team building to construction operations. Focuses on<br />

the basic principles <strong>of</strong> leadership including team formation, motivation, organizational<br />

dynamics and conflict resolution. Examines construction operations and characteristics,<br />

ethics in the business environment and its relationship to sound leadership<br />

principles. Prerequisites: CVE 4070.<br />

CVE 5080 SELECTED TOPICS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING (1-3 credits).<br />

Advanced topics in civil engineering. Conducted on a seminar basis with extensive<br />

student participation. Topics chosen according to student interest. (Requirement:<br />

Instructor approval.)<br />

CVE 5095 SPECIAL PROJECTS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING (1-3 credits).<br />

Special graduate study undertaken on a cooperative basis between a student and<br />

a member <strong>of</strong> the graduate faculty. The project may include a literature search in a<br />

selected area or the design and fabrication <strong>of</strong> research equipment. (Requirement:<br />

Department head approval.)<br />

CVE 5899 FINAL SEMESTER THESIS (0-2 credits). Variable registration<br />

for thesis completion after satisfaction <strong>of</strong> minimum registration requirements.<br />

(Requirements: Accepted petition to graduate and approval by Office <strong>of</strong> Graduate<br />

CVE 5999 THESIS RESEARCH (3-6 credits). Individual research under the<br />

direction <strong>of</strong> a graduate faculty member in a selected topic. (Requirement: Thesis<br />

CWE 1001 COOPERATIVE EDUCATION 1 (1-3 credits). Prepares students for<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional careers by integrating alternate periods <strong>of</strong> academic study and careerrelated<br />

work experience. Places students in private industry, business and public agencies.<br />

Requires specific academic standards and recommendation by the university to<br />

be eligible. Registration for three credits classifies student as full time, and credits may<br />

be applied as free elective credit in most programs. Also requires co-op coordinator<br />

approval <strong>of</strong> appropriate course prior to registration. Grades are pass/fail (P/F) only.<br />

(Requirement: Completion <strong>of</strong> 24 credit hours with at least a 2.5 GPA.)<br />

EAC 2211 PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTING 1 (3 credits). Introduces the<br />

financial environment, financial statements, the accounting cycle and the theoretical<br />

framework <strong>of</strong> accounting measurement, emphasizing mechanics, measurement theory<br />

and the economic environment. (Requirement: Must be enrolled in <strong>Florida</strong> Tech<br />

University Online.)<br />

EAC 2212 PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTING 2 (3 credits). Continues<br />

EAC 2211. Emphasizes understanding the role <strong>of</strong> accounting in product costing,<br />

costing for quality, cost-justifying investment decisions, and performance evaluation<br />

and control <strong>of</strong> human behavior. (Requirement: Must be enrolled in <strong>Florida</strong> Tech<br />

University Online.) Prerequisites: EAC 2211.<br />

EAC 3211 INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING 1 (3 credits). Studies the<br />

development <strong>of</strong> generally accepted accounting principles and valuation models in their<br />

application to financial statement presentations. Includes in-depth coverage <strong>of</strong> the<br />

preparation and use <strong>of</strong> accounting information based on current accounting standards<br />

<strong>of</strong> financial accounting. (Requirement: Must be enrolled in <strong>Florida</strong> Tech University<br />

Online.) Prerequisites: EAC 2212.<br />

EAC 3212 INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING 2 (3 credits). Continues EAC 3211.<br />

Includes the valuation <strong>of</strong> liabilities and equities, revenue realization, accounting<br />

changes, income taxes, leases and financial statement disclosures. (Requirement:<br />

Must be enrolled in <strong>Florida</strong> Tech University Online.) Prerequisites: EAC 3211.<br />

EAC 3214 ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEMS (3 credits). Covers the<br />

principles involved in establishing an accounting information system. Includes source<br />

documents, internal controls and the interfaces needed for managerial control <strong>of</strong> the<br />

business. Studies the integration <strong>of</strong> managerial accounting information needs with the<br />

design and implementation <strong>of</strong> systems. (Requirement: Third-year standing in <strong>Florida</strong><br />

Tech University Online.) Prerequisites: EAC 2212.<br />

EAC 3331 COST ACCOUNTING (3 credits). Studies relevant costs for managerial<br />

decision-making. Includes cost accounting fundamentals used in managerial control<br />

EAC 3332 ADVANCED COST ACCOUNTING (3 credits). Continues EAC 3331.<br />

accounting and managerial decision topics. Requires computer spreadsheet skills and<br />

EAC 4401 ADVANCED ACCOUNTING (3 credits). Covers accounting principles<br />

EAC 4411 AUDITING (3 credits). Covers the principles and procedures <strong>of</strong> internal<br />
