of Front Seat Back—The back of front<br />
seat that is visible to the rear seat passengers.<br />
Also called division. Also called frame.<br />
Backrest—The upright cushion against which<br />
passengers rest.<br />
Backlight—Rear window.<br />
Belt Lina—The uppermost part of doors and<br />
rear quarters, extending from windshield base<br />
rear shelf.<br />
Bench Type Seat—A regular seat with<br />
straight-across bench type cushion and backrest<br />
as contrasted with bucket seats.<br />
Bezel— A sloping rim around an object such<br />
as headlamp lens, brake pedal, etc.<br />
Biscuits—Style of upholstering when material<br />
is formed into square or oblong sections by<br />
seams or pressed indentations.<br />
Body Cloth—The basic trim material used on<br />
seat inserts—usually the heaviest weight.<br />
Bolsters—The front, side or center part of a<br />
seat cushion, separated from the back or center<br />
by a welt, lace or seam. The top, side or center<br />
part of a backrest sometimes extending along<br />
the sides in a U or H shape.<br />
Buttons—Used to produce a tufted or biscuit<br />
effect in the upholstery design; to retain trim<br />
covers and as an appearance item.<br />
Coated Fabric—A synthetic material with a<br />
leather-like appearance, also called expanded<br />
vinyl and elascofab (Elastic-coated-fabric).<br />
<strong>Center</strong> Pillar—A rear door hinge support structure<br />
between front and rear doors terminating<br />
at belt line on hardtop sedans.<br />
Combination—When referred to interior upholstery,<br />
it is the complete interior that includes<br />
a combination of colors and materials such as<br />
cloth, leather, vinyl, etc.<br />
Coupe Type Seat—Individual backrests, creating<br />
a notched appearance. On 4-door styles<br />
the backrests are anchored and do not fold as<br />
they do in 2-door models.<br />
Cowl Quarters—The section forward of the<br />
front door on inside of front compartment.<br />
Cushion—The lower seat cushion or section<br />
upon which passengers sit.<br />
Cushion Face—Vertical surface forming front<br />
and sides of seat cushion.<br />
Cut and Sew—Cutting material to pattern;<br />
sewing and molding to form a set of "trim<br />
stock".<br />
Dielectric—A heat and pressure process to<br />
unite, form and make designs on fabrics.<br />
Division—The back part of front seat. Separation<br />
between front and rear compartments.<br />
Door Pull—A grip handle on upper door panel.<br />
Door Pad—The upholstered part of a door or<br />
section below window.<br />
Dust Boot—Convertible top cover when lowered.<br />
Also called top boot.<br />
Embossed—A dielectrically formed design on<br />
coated fabric.<br />
Expanded Vinyl—An extra thick vinyl coated<br />
fabric. The soft resilient feel is attained by<br />
sandwiching a sponge-like cellular structure<br />
between the backing fabric and plastic topcoating.<br />
Front Seat Back Panel—A machine-formed<br />
vinyl panel that covers top and sides of front<br />
seat back.<br />
Garnish Moulding—The frame next to the<br />
glass on the inside of windshield, door, rear<br />
window and along side of headlining.<br />
inserts—When used with reference to upholstery,<br />
it is the center section back of bolster on<br />
