<strong>Cadillac</strong>'s proven four-link rear suspension has two<br />

lower control arms connecting the rear axle and<br />

frame for proper wheel alignment and ride stability<br />

under a variety of road conditions. The two upper<br />

control arms are angle-mounted high on the rear<br />

axle to help reduce sideways motion, roll on curves<br />

and acceleration squat. Steel helical-coil springs are<br />

mounted directly over the rear axle and, with a low<br />

spring rate, provide a well balanced ride. Thick<br />

rubber insulation at control arm-to-frame mountings<br />

and at top and bottom of springs absorbs and<br />

isolates road noise.<br />

The frame for <strong>1969</strong> has been redesigned for increased<br />

structural rigidity and lengthened at the<br />

front to be compatible with the new body styling.<br />

New front and rear crossmembers and deepened<br />

side rails located directly behind the front springs<br />

give increased strength and added impact protection.<br />

Soft, durable rubber body mounts contain<br />

20% more rubber for a substantial increase in structural<br />

isolation. These soft, rubber cushions also contribute<br />

to <strong>Cadillac</strong>'s famed silent ride.<br />
