# 1, West Beach, Seal Beach: Located at the foot <strong>of</strong> 1 st Street, the northern section <strong>of</strong> Seal<br />

Beach <strong>of</strong>fers a wide beach with volleyball nets, restrooms <strong>and</strong> showers, <strong>and</strong> a small café <strong>and</strong><br />

parking lot. Crowds here are a mix <strong>of</strong> locals, Los Angeles <strong>and</strong> Orange County residents, <strong>and</strong><br />

overnight tourists from the beachfront vacation rentals. This beach is less crowded than the one<br />

to the south. Most patrons <strong>of</strong> Seal Beach tend to gravitate towards Main Street <strong>and</strong> its<br />

attractions. Surfing, body surfing, <strong>and</strong> boogie boarding are popular.<br />

# 2, East Beach, Seal Beach: Seal Beach Pier is located at the southwest end <strong>of</strong> Main Street<br />

in Seal Beach. Locals, Los Angeles <strong>and</strong> Orange County residents, <strong>and</strong> overnight visitors from<br />

the numerous hotels, summer rentals, <strong>and</strong> vacation homes nearby can be found patronizing the<br />

shops, bars, <strong>and</strong> restaurants that line the streets near the pier <strong>and</strong> beach. At the beach, fishing,<br />

surfing, <strong>and</strong> volleyball are popular. The beach also <strong>of</strong>fers lifeguard service, restrooms <strong>and</strong><br />

showers, nearby food service, <strong>and</strong> a boardwalk. The boardwalk is used equally by locals <strong>and</strong><br />

tourists walking between the Main Street <strong>and</strong> their residences. There are also two large parking<br />

lots on either side <strong>of</strong> the pier <strong>and</strong> plentiful free street parking. In the winter, crowds concentrate<br />

around the shops.<br />

# 3, Surfside: Surfside is a private community within the City <strong>of</strong> Seal Beach, located between<br />

Anaheim Bay <strong>and</strong> Sunset Beach. This beach is primarily used by local families <strong>and</strong> a few<br />

surfers willing to make the walk from Sunset Beach to a wave that breaks near the base <strong>of</strong> the<br />

east jetty <strong>of</strong> Anaheim Bay. There are no facilities here <strong>and</strong> beach users from outside Surfside<br />

generally must park in Sunset Beach.<br />

# 4, Sunset Beach: Sunset Beach is a small community, within the City <strong>of</strong> Huntington Beach,<br />

with a wide s<strong>and</strong>y beach that <strong>of</strong>fers free parking, restrooms <strong>and</strong> showers, lifeguards, <strong>and</strong><br />

volleyball courts. Beach activities such as surfing, windsurfing <strong>and</strong> kite surfing dominate water<br />

sports, <strong>and</strong> many visitors can be found simply enjoying the s<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> sun. There are numerous<br />

hotels in the area <strong>and</strong> many beach users are overnight tourists or visitors from Orange <strong>and</strong> Los<br />

Angeles Counties. There are a few restaurants in the immediate area.<br />

# 5-6, Huntington Harbour Beaches: Huntington Harbour contains a small number <strong>of</strong> pocket<br />

beaches, some accompanied by parks <strong>and</strong> play areas. These beaches are used primarily by<br />

local residents <strong>and</strong> visitors to the marina. Recreational amenities such as lifeguards are very<br />

limited. Access is also difficult for non-residents.<br />

# 7, Bolsa Chica State Beach: Bolsa Chica State Beach is located north <strong>of</strong> Seapoint Avenue<br />

<strong>and</strong> west <strong>of</strong> Pacific Coast Highway at the northern end <strong>of</strong> Huntington Beach. Amenities include<br />

plentiful parking, camping, restrooms <strong>and</strong> showers, lifeguards, a snack bar, <strong>and</strong> a beachside<br />

bike path. Each car is charged a <strong>California</strong> State Park day use fee <strong>of</strong> $15.00. Just across<br />

Pacific Coast Highway is the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve that has hiking paths <strong>and</strong><br />

conducts organized tours <strong>of</strong> the wetl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> its inhabitants. Most <strong>of</strong> Bolsa Chica’s visitors are<br />

local residents with a few overnight campers <strong>and</strong> their families.<br />
