Sessi<strong>on</strong> 4: Questi<strong>on</strong>s and Answers<br />

Facilitator’s Note: This step is designed to provide answers to the questi<strong>on</strong>s raised in the earlier<br />

workshops. You will have made a list of these issues and invited a local medical specialist to join you<br />

to resp<strong>on</strong>d to these issues.<br />

The questi<strong>on</strong>s and the dialogue provide a source of data, telling you how much people already know<br />

about these issues and the health system.<br />

Objectives:<br />

Resp<strong>on</strong>d to participants’ questi<strong>on</strong>s about health issues.<br />

Deepen participants’ knowledge about diseases, health issues and the health services<br />

available.<br />

Time: 60 minutes<br />

Materials: List of questi<strong>on</strong>s (raised in the workshops). Fact Sheets (Annex A).<br />

Preparati<strong>on</strong>: Invite a local medical expert to join you. Give these questi<strong>on</strong>s in advance so she or he<br />

can come prepared to answer them.<br />

Steps:<br />

➊ INTRODUCTION: Explain that the aim of the sessi<strong>on</strong> is to answer participants’ questi<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong><br />

health issues and health services. Introduce the medical expert.<br />

➋ PRESENTATION: The medical expert resp<strong>on</strong>ds to each of the questi<strong>on</strong>s. Then invite other<br />

questi<strong>on</strong>s and ask him/her to resp<strong>on</strong>d.<br />

Note: The in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> should include simple basic facts about the health problem, including<br />

preventi<strong>on</strong> and treatment in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong>, e.g., Where can they go to get a pap smear test? If services are<br />

not available in government clinics, where else can <strong>on</strong>e go to get this test?<br />

➌ FACT SHEETS: Hand out the Fact Sheets (Annex A).<br />

Sessi<strong>on</strong> 5: Evaluati<strong>on</strong>, Follow up and Closing<br />

Facilitator’s Note: This sessi<strong>on</strong> ends the joint workshop. Participants evaluate the workshop and<br />

develop plans <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> follow up, and then you thank them <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> their participati<strong>on</strong> and time.<br />
