Presentation of Books
At Vilenica 2008 many book novelties will be released, including
the selection from the poetry collection Aloneness
by Svetlana Makarovič in English and German translation
and selected plays by last year’s Vilenica laureate Goran
Stefanovski in Slovene.
The selection of poetry by Svetlana Makarovič entitled
Samost (izbor) / Aloneness (the selection) / Alleinsein (eine
Auswahl) was published by the Slovene Writers’ Association in
the book series Litterae Slovenicae, edited by Lenart Zajc, the
executive editor being Lela B. Njatin. The authors of the poetry
selection and translations are Alan McConnell-Duff (English)
and Ludwig Hartinger (German). Boris A. Novak is the author
of the accompanying essay, in which he states, among other
things, that Svetlana Makarovič is »by general consensus /…/
the ‘first lady’ of contemporary Slovenian poetry. A complex
artist, she is the author of a distinguished poetic opus of
extraordinary power of expression.”
The Goran Stefanovski drama selection in Slovene brings four
gems among more than twenty plays comprising the author’s
oeuvre: Proud Flesh (1979), Tattooed Souls (1984), Hotel
Europa (2000) and The Demon of Debar Maalo (2006). A
typical characteristic of all the plays is that they deal with the
human, the humanlike and the humane or the antipodes of
these concepts, always bringing miseries, violence, misunderstanding
as well as an insight which is tragic and enlightening.
The translation of the selected plays by Goran Stafanovski
is published in the Vilenica Series by the publishing house
Cankarjeva založba and was subsidized by the Republic of
Slovenia Ministry for Culture. The plays were translated into
Slovene by Aleš Mustar. The author of the foreword is Lidija
Dimkovska.
In collaboration with publishing house Cankarjeva založba.
Predstavitev knjig
Svetlane Makarovič v angleškem in nemškem prevodu
ter izbor dram lanskoletnega vileniškega lavreata Gorana
Stefanovskega v slovenščini.
Izbor poezije Svetlane Makarovič z naslovom Samost
(izbor) / Aloneness (the selection) / Alleinsein (eine Auswahl)
pisateljev. Urednik zbirke je Lenart Zajc, izvršna urednica
pa Lela B. Njatin. Avtorja izbora pesmi in prevodov sta
Alan McConnell-Duff (v angleščino) in Ludwig Hartinger
in izrazno močnega pesniškega opusa«.
Slovenski izbor iz dramatike Gorana Stefanovskega
prinaša štiri bisere izmed več kot dvajsetih dram, kolikor
jih šteje avtorjev opus: Divje meso (1979), Tetovirane duše
(1984), Hotel Evropa (2000) in Demon iz Debar Maala
Prevod izbranih
Mustarja. Spremno besedo je napisala Lidija Dimkovska.
V sodelovanju s Cankarjevo založbo.
