Submission summary
Decision
It is accepted that some core infrastructure is the responsibility of the road
controlling authority rather than the Regional Council. For that reason, NZNFS
specifically supports Policy P29 which “promotes the coordinated planning and
programming of public transport infrastructure and services” with road controlling
authorities.
No change required.
Traffic associated with National Fieldays is typically congested at the
intersections of State Highways 1 and 21 (Tamahere intersection) and at the
intersections of State Highway 3 and 21 (Airport Road intersection). NZNFS
requests that Council work with the New Zealand Transport Agency and territorial
authorities to develop infrastructure improvements that would facilitate ease of
access (to MCEC) for future public transport initiatives. Actions A54 and A55 are
supported by the NZNFS because they facilitate the coordinated planning of
infrastructure between Council and roading authorities. Action A59 is similarly
supported if infrastructure upgrades associated with the Waikato Expressway
alleviate congestion on the existing Tamahere interchange.
Matter: PTP11-56.16
Summary: Future Proof supports the infrastructure policies contained in this
section.
Amend last paragraph to reference A6 (which is the action to undertake a
strategic network review) instead of A5.
Submitter: 58 Swan, Lore
Matter: PTP11-58.1
Summary: I would like to see ALL buses in Hamilton/Waikato area Wheelchair
accessible, I would also like to see all the buses equipped with the Audio/visual
like they do on the city's FREE Bus for those who are Deaf and Vision impaired.
One problem I have which I also wish to have addressed s I had a driver once
have an argument with me when a lady and her pushchair refused to move out of
the Wheelchair spot yet I was told that people with disabilities were given FIRST
priority for the spots *for obvious reasons, a mother can take their child out and
fold the chair, most Wheelchair users cannot get out of their chair at least not
easily*
Accept.
Amend last paragraph on page 61 to read: “The strategic network review (see
action A5 6)…”
Comments noted.
Council is working towards ensuring a fully accessible fleet of super low floor
buses. However fleet changes to current older buses can only occur when the
present contracts expire and the new contracts come into effect in 2014.
It also needs to be noted that the NZ Transport Agency has recently released
‘Requirement for Urban Buses’ which specifies the standard for urban bus
quality. All regional councils are required to adhere to these standards.
No change required.
