Submission summary
Matter: PTP11-50.1
Summary: We would like to strongly support the first two bullet points of the “key
changes recommended to the current network”. Bullet point 1 results in higher
frequencies – the key driver in growing patronage, and bullet point 2 has some
specific opportunities along the SH 1 Corridor between the Transport Centre and
The Base.
Submitter: 64 Waipa District Council
Matter: PTP11-64.5
Summary: 3.10 – 3rd to last paragraph – demand responsiveness
Use of “cost efficient modes”. Is CAT/TAT this mode? (this was included within
the Network Review prior to the Public Transport Plan)
Is Waipa the appropriate location for this trial and who will fund this?
Decision
Thank you for your support of the Key Recommendations from the Network
Review that was undertaken as part of the WRPTP development.
No change required.
Comments noted.
“Utilising cost efficient modes” refers to demand responsive service but not
specifically CAT/TAT. However, CAT/TAT could be one of the demand
responsive options used, if it was assessed as most appropriate.
At this stage, the Draft WRPTP considers demand responsive services as a
concept, with the policy being around trialling them at some stage if scheduled
services were considered to be not cost effective.
Further investigations based on demand for service and other factors such as
availability of providers (in case of “catch a Taxi type of service”) would need to
be carried out prior to determining a trial location. Funding arrangements will
need to be part of the investigation. The relevant territorial authority will be fully
involved in the process, when it was to happen.
Submission summary
Submitter: 44 CCS Disability Action
Matter: PTP11-44.4
Summary: We agree with all comments made regarding the transport
disadvantaged and fuel price. However, we feel that representation needs to
continue to central government regarding some of their funding and policy
initiatives. While we understand that improving roads and rail to enable freight
movement is critical to the growth of New Zealand's economy, the cost to the
economy of preventing people from joining the workforce or living independently
in their communities, because of failure to maintain and further develop
Decision
Comments noted
Policy P42 and Action A 77 provide for advocacy to central government over
public transport funding.
