Submission summary
Objective 4 (‘improve access to essential services’) is partially supported insofar
as it recognizes the importance of improving access for rural communities.
However, reference to ‘essential services’ rather than ‘community services’ is
limiting. NZNFS requests that Objective 4 be amended to refer to ‘community
services’ rather than ‘essential services’.
Submitter: 56 Future Proof Implementation Committee
Matter: PTP11-56.8
Summary: Future Proof strongly supports the first objective to strengthen
integration. The way that developments are planned, where land use is located
and the type of land use policies promoted can have a strong influence on public
transport usage. It is important that land use and public transport are carried out
in a coordinated manner.
Decision
disadvantaged, which the Council has a statutory duty to consider. The definition
of transport disadvantaged focuses on access to basic community activities and
services. However, for clarity objective 4 is amended.
Amend Objective 4 to read: An important role for public transport is to provide
access to essential services, basic community activities and services especially
for the transport disadvantaged.
