SWK 3913 Crisis Intervention
3 credits: 3 hours lecture
This course covers the basic theory and skills of crisis
intervention, including concepts, constructs, and
techniques.
SWK 4313 Generalist Social Work Practice III
3 credits: 3 hours lecture
Prerequisite: SWK 3213
This third practice course covers the theory and skills of
the generalist method of social work. Its focus in on
mid- and macro-level systems, employing the processes
of empowerment practice learned in the first two practice
courses. Restricted to SWK majors.
SWK 4419 Generalist Social Work Field Practicum
9 credits: 30 hours field experience per week
Prerequisite: SWK 4313
Corequisites: SWK 4421, SWK 4633
This course provides majors the opportunity to apply
social work knowledge, values, and skills in a social work
setting under appropriate supervision. A minimum of
420 hours of field experience for the semester is required.
Restricted to SWK majors.
SWK 4421 Generalist Social Work Field Practicum
Seminar
1 credit: 1 hour lecture
Prerequisite: SWK 4313
Corequisites: SWK 4419, SWK 4633
This seminar is designed to help students process their
field practicum experiences and integrate knowledge,
values, and skills into generalist social work practice.
Restricted to SWK majors.
SWK 4633 Generalist Social Work in Rural Environments
3 credits: 3 hours lecture
Prerequisite: SWK 4313
Corequisites: SWK 4419, SWK 4421
This course focuses on the special considerations of
generalist social work practice in rural and small town
environments. Issues that concern rural populations and
issues that concern the generalist social worker are
covered. Restricted to SWK majors.

1 credit: 3 hours laboratory
An overview of wildlife ecology and management. Field
trips to observe and discuss the programs of various
wildlife conservation and management agencies and
organizations.
