Chapter 5 - Specialization Psychopathology<br />
Instructional Approach<br />
Format: Two 3-hour meetings.<br />
The first meeting introduces the students to the topics <strong>and</strong> consists of an introductory<br />
lecture <strong>and</strong> a question <strong>and</strong> discussion round. Students are given general reading<br />
material <strong>and</strong> tips on further - more specific – material.<br />
As a preparation for meeting 2, each student chooses a topic for a presentation in<br />
which a specific theoretical issue, relevant to the area of sexual disorders will be<br />
addressed. The student prepares an individual paper in which the central aim of the<br />
presentation is presented, <strong>and</strong> one or more specific topics for discussion emanating<br />
from the presentation’s central proposition. The papers are sent in advance to the tutor<br />
by email, at least 48 hours before the second meeting.<br />
In the second meeting the presentations are given. The student supports the<br />
presentation with PowerPoint. Each student presents <strong>and</strong> discusses the prepared topics.<br />
The tutor exp<strong>and</strong>s on the discussed topics. After the presentation, the PowerPoint file is<br />
sent to the coordinator.<br />

Description of the Course<br />
This training course addresses the different phases of writing scientific protocols <strong>and</strong><br />
research reports. The course covers all of the stages involved in the creation of a piece<br />
of writing; from rough working documents <strong>and</strong> prewriting, to editing draft texts <strong>and</strong><br />
making final revisions. Since the course precedes the Master’s research <strong>and</strong> thesis<br />
stage, the primary focus is on the development of skills that will enable the writing of<br />
a research proposal <strong>and</strong> Master’s thesis. The course covers a variety of topics related<br />
to scientific writing, such as different protocol types, the IMRAD-format, APA style <strong>and</strong><br />
format, citations <strong>and</strong> references, plagiarism, project planning <strong>and</strong> applying on-line<br />
writing guides.<br />
Instructional Approach<br />
A combination of lectures, take home writing assignments <strong>and</strong> take home review<br />
assignments.<br />
