§ 1 General conditions<br />

Education <strong>and</strong> Examination Regulations for the 20<strong>08</strong>-20<strong>09</strong> academic year for the<br />

Research Master’s Study Programme in the Faculty of <strong>Psychology</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Neuroscience</strong>, as<br />

meant in article 7.13 of the Law on Higher Education <strong>and</strong> Scientific Research (WHW).<br />

Article 1.1 Scope of the Regulations<br />

These regulations apply to the education <strong>and</strong> examinations for the full-time Research<br />

Master’s Study programme “Cognitive <strong>Neuroscience</strong>, Neuropsychology, Psychopathology”,<br />

hereinafter referred to as the study programme.<br />

The study programme is offered by the Faculty of <strong>Psychology</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Neuroscience</strong> in<br />

cooperation with the Faculty of Health, Medicine, <strong>and</strong> Life Sciences, hereinafter referred to<br />

collectively as the Faculties.<br />

The Faculty of <strong>Psychology</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Neuroscience</strong>, hereinafter referred to as the Faculty, is<br />

responsible for coordinating <strong>and</strong> administering the study programme. The regulations<br />

have been established by the Faculty Board, after the advice from the study Programme<br />

Committee <strong>and</strong> the approval from the Faculty Council had been obtained, <strong>and</strong> will apply<br />

as of 1st September 20<strong>08</strong> for the 20<strong>08</strong>-20<strong>09</strong> academic year.<br />

Article 1.2 Definitions<br />

In these regulations the following is understood by:<br />

a. The law: the Law for Higher Education <strong>and</strong> Scientific Research (WHW);<br />

b. Student: he/she who has been enrolled at <strong>Maastricht</strong> University as of 1st September<br />

20<strong>08</strong>, for the purpose of attending the courses <strong>and</strong>/or fulfilling the formal<br />

requirements of the study programme.<br />

c. Academic year: the period from 1st September of a calendar year through 31st August<br />

of the following calendar year.<br />

d. Part: a study unit of the study programme as meant by article 7.3 of the law.<br />

e. Course: a study unit of the study programme, as meant by the law.<br />

f. Tutorial Group Meeting: a practical exercise, as meant by article 7.13 paragraph 2, sub t<br />

of the law.<br />

g. Practical Training: a practical exercise, as meant by article 7.13, paragraph 2, sub d of<br />

the law.<br />

h. Test: the test as part of the examination as meant by article 7.10, paragraph 1 of the<br />

law.<br />

i. Examination: all of the formal requirements (a total of 120 European credits) for the<br />

Research Master’s study programme for a given specialization, including tests, papers,<br />

assignments, internships, theses, <strong>and</strong> other requirements as specified for each course<br />

or part of the education.<br />

j. Credit: a study load of 28 hours, in accordance with article 7.4 of the law. The total
