Chapter 3 - Specialization Fundamental <strong>Neuroscience</strong><br />
The course will focus on major areas in Psychopharmacology such as Addiction,<br />
Depression, Anxiety, Psychosis <strong>and</strong> Cognition. These areas will be illuminated form<br />
both the perspectives of basic neuroscience including animal subjects as well as<br />
experimental <strong>and</strong> clinical human psychopharmacology.<br />
Instructional Approach<br />
Each half-day the programme will consist of a sequence of three elements:<br />
• Key note Lectures by internationally renowned speakers in the morning<br />
• Presentations of recent research by PhD students or junior researchers<br />
• Forum report by students about the poster-presentations<br />

The workshop offers plenty of opportunity for the Master’s student to interact with<br />
PhD students, junior <strong>and</strong> senior staff <strong>and</strong> the invited guest speakers.<br />

Short presentation in the forum discussion.<br />

Description of the Course<br />
This training course addresses the different phases of writing scientific protocols <strong>and</strong><br />
research reports. The course covers all of the stages involved in the creation of a piece<br />
of writing; from rough working documents <strong>and</strong> prewriting, to editing draft texts <strong>and</strong><br />
making final revisions. Since the course precedes the Master’s research <strong>and</strong> thesis<br />
stage, the primary focus is on the development of skills that will enable the writing of<br />
a research proposal <strong>and</strong> Master’s thesis. The course covers a variety of topics related<br />
to scientific writing, such as different protocol types, the IMRAD-format, APA style <strong>and</strong><br />
format, citations <strong>and</strong> references, plagiarism, project planning <strong>and</strong> applying on-line<br />
writing guides.<br />
Instructional Approach<br />
A combination of lectures, take home writing assignments <strong>and</strong> take home review<br />
assignments.<br />
