7. In consultation with and subject to the approval of the Executive<br />
Committee and the Finance Committee, development of an Accounting<br />
Policies and Procedures Section to be included in the Finance Committee<br />
Policies and Procedures Manual adopted by the Council of Bishops;<br />
8. Responsibility for the preparation and presentation of financial statements<br />
in accordance with GAAP. Further, the CFO shall cooperate fully with the<br />
external auditors in the auditing of the financial statements;<br />
9. Responsibility for the preparation of monthly interim financial statements<br />
and other reports, which shall be provided to the Finance Committee, the<br />
Council of Bishops, and Global Ministry Center departments;<br />
10. Reporting any financial irregularities or questionable transactions to the<br />
General Superintendent and the Finance Committee Chairman;<br />
11. Reporting at each regular meeting of the Finance Committee;<br />
12. Review of HR and IT-related procedures, processes, and administration,<br />
recommending improvements to the systems in place and managing the<br />
systems going forward;<br />
13. Evaluation and oversight of all benefits negotiations thus providing the<br />
most competitive packages for employees;<br />
14. Oversight of the risk management program in a manner that fulfils the<br />
mission and strategic goals of the ministry;<br />
15. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Committee and/or the Finance<br />
Committee of the Council of Bishops.<br />
Supervision and Line of Authority:<br />
The CFO shall be primarily amenable to the Executive Committee and<br />
secondarily amenable to the Council of Bishops through the Finance Committee<br />
of the Council of Bishops.<br />
Qualifications<br />
The CFO will be a seasoned and mature leader with at least 12-15 years of<br />
broad finance experience, ideally beginning in audit, followed by experience<br />
gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable<br />
recommendations to senior leadership. The CFO will ideally have significant non<br />
profit experience managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and<br />
reporting), HR, and IT.<br />
The CFO will have the following experience and attributes:<br />
• A minimum of a BS, an MBA would be a plus.<br />
• A Certified Public Accountant is preferred.<br />
• Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true<br />
business partner to the chief executive of a multi-state and networkbased<br />
entity. If coming from the for-profit world, nonprofit board<br />
experience preferred.<br />
