SUBSTITUTE MOTION to authorize the IPHC Corporate<br />
Secretary to unseal the prior divorce taskforce<br />
documents, remove author’s identifying information<br />
from the position papers and present same to the new<br />
chairman of the Divorce and Remarriage Study<br />
Commission, and then reseal the file.<br />
APPROVED<br />
STUDY COMMISSIONS<br />
MOTION to approve Executive Committee of the<br />
Council of Bishops’ request, originating from the<br />
Finance Committee, to form a new Divorce and<br />
Remarriage Study Commission consisting of Dr. Frank<br />
Tunstall, Chairman, Dr. Terry Tramel along with the EC<br />
COB (replacing previously appointed commission). The<br />
request was due to financial constraints.<br />
MOTION FAILED<br />
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE At the Council of Bishops meeting held October 13-14,<br />
2009 the following motion was made and then tabled<br />
until the next Council of Bishops meeting:<br />
MOTION TO ADJOURN AT 7:25 P.M. APPROVED<br />
MOTION: “Pursuant to Bylaws Article I, Part D, Section<br />
5, Paragraph r, the Council of Bishops hereby adopts the<br />
following provision: If a Member church that is<br />
compliant with the <strong>Church</strong> Tithe invests in a significant<br />
building project and/or contributes significantly to<br />
Conference or IPHC approved outreach projects, that<br />
Member church may apply to the Conference Executive<br />
Council for the right to retain a portion (as determined<br />
by the Conference Executive Committee) of the church<br />
Tithe to assist in the funding of such projects. The<br />
Conference Executive Council shall seriously consider<br />
for approval all such requests.”<br />
MOTION to take off the table.<br />
