EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE COUNCIL OF BISHOPS
CALLED MEETING
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK
MARCH 16, 2010
2:00 P.M.
A special meeting of the EC COB was called for Tuesday afternoon, March 16,
2010, by Presiding Bishop Carpenter. EC COB members, Bishops Beacham,
Thompson and Gardner, were present. Mike Gray also joined the group.
Several issues were reviewed:
‣ Pentecostal World Conference – all will attend
‣ COGOP Attendee – Chris Thompson will attend.
‣ Ruling for SC Conference
A minister who is retired from secular and/or church
employment may be nominated for and elected or
appointed to any position on the conference executive
council except that of conference bishop if he is serving
under appointment of the conference executive council
as a “full-time”, senior pastor of a local church in said
conference. The person involved must necessarily meet
all the other requirements of the Manual for his eligibility
to serve in this position.
The term full-time in this statement is not to be
construed in regards to financial remuneration but in
contrast to someone who is serving as an “interim”
pastor under appointment of the conference executive
council. A person serving in an “interim” pastoral
position would not be eligible for nomination and
election and/or appointment to the conference executive
council.
‣ Ruling for Golden West Conference
“Council members who have served in one office for
eight years must receive a 2/3 separate vote to set
aside the statue of limitations in order to be eligible for
nomination to the same position. Their name could then
be placed in nomination and they could be elected to the
office with a simple majority vote. They would be eligible
to be nominated and elected by majority vote for other
positions on the Council.”
