MaddIpabbam labbhitva pujayanti ye puggala : Whosoever faithfully sponsors<br />

the teaching called MaddI which contains ninety stanzas, the excellent section that the<br />

Buddha preached, he will lead a prosperous, comfortable, healthy wealthy life here and<br />

hereafter.<br />

SakkapabbaM labbhitvA yejanApUjeti : Whosoever women, men or clergies who<br />

faithfully sponsor and listens to the teaching called Sakkapan which consists of fortythree<br />

stanzas about the king of gods, Indra, who formed himself as a Brahmin coming<br />

forward to beg for MaddI, a lovely wife of <strong>Vessantara</strong>, that person when she departs<br />

from the human world, he is reborn in a superior heavenly state and proceed onto a<br />

better state. When he is reborn in the human world, he will lead a happy life, superior to<br />

others, for example; will be good looking, have a pleasant voice and please everyone<br />

who happens to see him. He will be wealthy and he will be able to use his wealth for<br />

meritorious deeds as much as he wants and he will please friends and deities too. When<br />

he departs from the human world, he will be reborn in a heavenly abode surrounded by<br />

a number of deities.<br />

MahArAja pabbaM labbhitvA pUjAyanti : Whoever faithfully sponsors the<br />

teaching called MahArAja pabbaM which is the eleventh section of the <strong>Vessantara</strong> JAtaka<br />

consisting of sixty-nine stanzas about the king SaGjeya. King SaGjeya paid a reward to a<br />

Brahmin to obtain his grandchildren return to his kingdom. Those people whenever they<br />

are born will live peaceful and happy lives, full of wealth and will never meet with<br />

danger. <strong>The</strong>y and will gain all the requisites, animate and inanimate objects and be<br />

surrounded by DAsAdAsI (various retinues) as fruits of offering the section called<br />

MahArAja in the teaching of MahAvessantara.<br />
