Governance
Investment Portfolio
Management
A program began to deliver best
practice portfolio management
techniques to support investment
decisions made across the
transport cluster. It will be
implemented by the end of 2012.
It includes:
• techniques to support the annual
investment planning cycle, which
produces outputs such as the
Transport Investment Plan, Total
Asset Management Plan and
transport budget submissions
• ensuring maximum use of currentyear
funds and management
visibility of portfolio performance
• governance and assurance
practices that support
investment decision making
and staged release of funds
during programs and projects.
Strategic Freight Model
The first NSW-wide Strategic
Freight Model now being developed
will be based on consistent, reliable
data sources that include Roads
and Maritime Services, Bureau of
Transport Statistics and Bureau
of Infrastructure, Transport
and Regional Economics.
The model will overcome previous
inconsistent and unreliable
freight data, and will enable
testing of different scenarios
for better decision making
relating to NSW freight network
planning and investments.
Transport Enterprise
Resource Program
The Transport Enterprise Resource
Program is a multiyear project
that will standardise the way that
the transport cluster performs
back office business functions.
These include human resources
management, payroll and
finance and procurement, on a
standard information technology
platform. The initiative covers the
design of standard processes,
communication and training and the
implementation of the enterprise
application software, SAP.
The project commenced in
late 2011-12 with a small team.
Initially it will determine the
approach for the program.
It will also determine how the
transport cluster could align the
standard processes with whole of
government standards which are
being developed by the Department
of Finance and Services.
