Mr. Wayne Chen Wayne Chen is the Chairman and CEO of Super Plus Food Stores, Jamaica’s largest retailer. He studied Law at the University of the West Indies and has served on the boards of several Jamaican companies including The National Commercial Bank, The Victoria Mutual Building Society, and The CVM Television Group. In the public sphere, he is the Chairman the Urban Development Corporation, the National Land Agency, the National Gallery of Jamaica and the Advisory Board of the Caribbean Policy Research Institute. In 1998 he was the Jamaica Observer’s Business Leader of the Year. He is the co-author of “Reggae Routes: The History of Jamaican Popular Music” (Temple University Press 1998). 10
Mr. Danny Roberts, CD DANNY ROBERTS, CD is the Head of the Hugh Lawson Shearer Trade Union Education Institute at the Open Campus of the University of the West Indies Mona. He currently serves as a Vice President of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions, and was a former Vice President of the National Workers Union and a former President of the Union of Clerical Administrative & Supervisory Employees. An ACP-EEC scholar, Mr. Roberts is a graduate of the University of the West Indies with a BA Honours in Communications with Social Sciences and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Government. He was the recipient of Jamaica’s fourth highest National Honours in 2009, the Commander of the Order of Distinction (CD), for his contribution to the trade union movement. Mr. Roberts is a co-host of News Talk 93 morning radio programme, “Jamaica Speaks”, a member of the Minimum Wage Advisory Commission, the Labour Advisory Committee and a Council member of the tripartite Partnership for Transformation. He is the former Chairman of the Michael Manley Foundation and previously held directorship on the Boards of the National Housing Trust, the Statistical Institute of Jamaica, the National Development Bank of Jamaica, Radio Jamaica Limited, the HEART Trust/NTA, Self Start Fund and the National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training. Mr. Roberts is married with two daughters, Sherice and Sasha- Kay. 11
