Museum of Natural History, Explorer’s classes, <strong>and</strong><br />

acquaint your child with this awesome <strong>Rock</strong>ford<br />

resource for paleontology, geology, biology, <strong>and</strong><br />

Native American life.<br />

Ages 6-12 year olds with an adult. Register the<br />

child; the adult is free <strong>and</strong> must attend. One adult<br />

required for every 2 children.<br />

at the top of the food chain <strong>and</strong> create an ice age<br />

“fossil” to take home.<br />

Ice on the Move – All About Glaciers<br />

There may be ice in Illinois in December, but<br />

what if there were glaciers here? Find out what<br />

makes a glacier <strong>and</strong> how they move by conducting<br />

experiments to explore the special features of glacial<br />

ice. Make a jewelry pendant using a glacial erratic<br />

rock from the local glacial till.<br />

Music Kitchen – Unit I<br />

(Ages 6-11) This age-appropriate class offers basic<br />

rhythm <strong>and</strong> theory to prospective or current music<br />

students in a way that grounds the concepts. It<br />

incorporates all 3 styles of learning (auditory, kinetic,<br />

<strong>and</strong> visual). We use “food art”, musical activities, <strong>and</strong><br />

rhythmic instruments to explore classical music <strong>and</strong><br />

basic beats. Fun, memorable <strong>and</strong> Educational! Wear<br />

old clothes or bring an old t-shirt to use as a smock.<br />
