learner with knowledge <strong>and</strong> skills specific to the prevention, recognition<br />
<strong>and</strong> management of chronic wounds. This essential knowledge<br />
benefits nurses (RN & LPN) <strong>and</strong> physical therapists in the outpatient,<br />
inpatient clinic or nursing home or home health settings.<br />
Topics covered will be:<br />
Key elements of assessment of chronic wounds, also acute wounds<br />
including methods for documenting the findings <strong>and</strong> methods to<br />
measure a wound. Key information from types of wounds; wound assessment;<br />
topical treatment choices based on assessment; principles<br />
to guide selection of topical products <strong>and</strong> evaluating the wound<br />
response. Details about pressure ulcers from prevention to management.<br />
Risk factors, techniques to manage pressure loads of the bedridden<br />
or chair dependent person <strong>and</strong> Federal regulation F-314.<br />
Arterial or venous causes of lower extremity ulcers. Clarification specific<br />
