Chinese Brush Painting Workshop<br />

with Stella Dobbins<br />

STELLA DOBBINS, (MA, University of Houston) is<br />

an artist <strong>and</strong> art historian who exhibits her work<br />

nation-wide. She is also a signature member of<br />

the National Watercolor Society.<br />

Chinese Brush Painting – Focus<br />

on Flowers<br />

(Middle School-Adult) Enjoy a day of learning Chinese<br />

Brush Painting techniques: contour, spontaneous, dry<br />

brush, <strong>and</strong> we-in-wet styles. The following subjects<br />

will be demonstrated by Ms. Dobbins: waterfall with<br />

bridge, spider mums with butterflies, yellow bird with<br />

tree, ducks with bamboo, <strong>and</strong> minnows with lily pads.<br />

There will be class discussion after each subject<br />

taught. A supply kit may be purchased from instructor<br />

at class for $25. There will be one half-hour lunch<br />

a wet piece of paper <strong>and</strong> watch as the ink flows<br />

into an organic shape. Get more detailed by using<br />

watercolors, ink, <strong>and</strong> collage to fill in your drawing<br />

<strong>and</strong> make it your own. The ambitious might even<br />
