This project for the City of<br />
Miami Beach involved the total<br />
renovation of an open-air park<br />
pavilion to an enclosed,<br />
conditioned space. The<br />
building now serves a variety of<br />
functions, including an afterschool<br />
care program, summer programs and day camps, and community events<br />
such as movie-in-the-park functions and picnics. The park is open daily to the<br />
neighboring community.<br />
The pavilion was developed using building information modeling (BIM), which<br />
enabled the client to have a clear picture of the construction process. <strong>Atkins</strong> was<br />
able to illustrate each phase of construction—from demolition to final<br />
completion—in an expedited manner. When renovations were completed, the<br />
pavilion provided the necessary audiovisual systems to support recreation and<br />
cultural activities for children, teens, and adults.<br />
