An iimeeimiit for the purchHsc
ht Film Trui-k Service, with cventiml offer-
Mi of the slock to Michigan exhibitor.'-, was
jinnounced by Ray Bi-suich, Hastings exhlblor
who for 19 years was president of Allied
rheatros of Michigan and a leader of national
kuied.
Truck was founded in the early silent
lays by tlie E. H. Robinson fiimlly and has
Wen headed in recent years by Mrs. Gladys
Pike, president, and her sister Jane Robinson,
jreasurer. Tliis organization, one of the leadrs
Branch disclosed his agreement calls for
nmedlate purchase of sufficient stock to
uallfy him as a director and ultimately for
urchase of the entire stock of the company,
ranch will also serve as general manager of
le company, spending five or six days a
eek in Detroit. Later, the stock will be ofred
to Michigan exhibitors. This will be on
n Individual basis and open to all independ-
U exhibitors, not through any association
•
group, Branch emphasized.
"This service is something that should be
alntained and perpetuated," Branch said.
Jp In the state it has been our mainstay,
controls some valuable permiLs (for comon
carrier film transport rights) and is
vlng a great service to the little guys.
"Eventually, if the exhibitors themselves
m it, their future is secure so far as transirtation
is concerned. Years ago. v.hen I
IS head of Allied, many exhibitors were
ssatisfied because they could not own their
'n truck line."
:W EAST-WEST LINKS
Background of this move to protect delivery
product to Michigan exhibitors is the
ography of Michigan, which has re.T3e of service, but time
and space will not permit. The fact.- are a
matter of record and are well known by all.
"Under the .system of cross-shipping by
Film Truck Service the print shortage has
been held to a minimum, and this added
feature has brought the necessity to make
special trips in order to complete many
bookings. You have but to examine your own
record to substantiate this.
In conclusion, let me say that If we exhibitors
wish to .safeguard our future shipping,
and eventually control the ownership
of the service, we must recognize the importance
of protecting this time-tested
medium of transportation. Film Truck
DETROIT—The United Ani.^ts Theatre
Wishing Well is being placed back in public
treated to create a romantic and intriguing
