Market research
Consultations with relevant industry and institutions engaged in administration and
management of climate change issues (BMWA, BMAA, BLFUW, Kommunalkredit CDM
program, WKO, private sector companies engaged in carbon asset generation);
. • Facilitation activities for Austrian companies, including SME to provide products and
services for CDM projects (a round table/workshop in cooperation with Austria Chamber of
Commerce (WKO) with Austrian industry);
. • Technology identification Identification of companies with the potential to provide CDM
project development services within their business portfolio Identification of national priorities in the
recipient countries and their matching with technology supply available through project
sponsors/partners
Selection of country/technology combination that meets the overall targets of sustainable
development and cost-effective reduction of GHG.
Immediate Objective 2: There is a clear need to maximize developing country’s opportunities to participate
in the carbon market. Capacity building is therefore a key objective of technical assistance under this project.
The capacity building effort will target project formulation and project development covering all the aspects
of the CDM project cycle.
Output 2: Capacity building for CDM project development
. • Concept development for capacity
building and technical assistance;
. • Outline of training needs for project

. • Identification of national project
management consultants;
. • Consultations with DNAs on national
priorities for CDM.
. • Organization of project activities in
cooperation with DNAs;

Immediate Objective 3: The objective here is to assemble a viable portfolio of CDM projects that could be
pursued through partnerships with Austrian industry and to use the hands-on experience in project
formulation to bolster the capacity building effort of the project.
Output 3: CDM Portfolio Development: formulation of CDM project portfolio for each participating
country in accordance with national priorities
. • Identification of project opportunities (5-10 PINs per country);
. • Implementation of training, project opportunity identification according to the project
concept;
