program, WKO, private sector companies engaged in carbon asset generation);<br />
. • Facilitation activities <strong>for</strong> Austrian companies, including SME to provide products <strong>and</strong><br />
services <strong>for</strong> CDM projects (a round table/workshop in cooperation with Austria Chamber <strong>of</strong><br />
Commerce (WKO) with Austrian industry);<br />
. • Technology identification Identification <strong>of</strong> companies with <strong>the</strong> potential to provide CDM<br />
project <strong>development</strong> services within <strong>the</strong>ir business portfolio Identification <strong>of</strong> national priorities in <strong>the</strong><br />
recipient countries <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir matching with technology supply available through project<br />
sponsors/partners<br />
Selection <strong>of</strong> country/technology combination that meets <strong>the</strong> overall targets <strong>of</strong> sustainable<br />
<strong>development</strong> <strong>and</strong> cost-effective reduction <strong>of</strong> GHG.<br />
Immediate Objective 2: There is a clear need to maximize developing country’s opportunities to participate<br />
in <strong>the</strong> carbon market. Capacity building is <strong>the</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e a key objective <strong>of</strong> technical assistance under this project.<br />
The capacity building ef<strong>for</strong>t will target project <strong>for</strong>mulation <strong>and</strong> project <strong>development</strong> covering all <strong>the</strong> aspects<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> CDM project cycle.<br />
Output 2: Capacity building <strong>for</strong> CDM project <strong>development</strong><br />
. • Concept <strong>development</strong> <strong>for</strong> capacity<br />
building <strong>and</strong> technical assistance;<br />
. • Outline <strong>of</strong> training needs <strong>for</strong> project<br />
<strong>development</strong>;<br />
. • Identification <strong>of</strong> national project<br />
management consultants;<br />
. • Consultations with DNAs on national<br />
priorities <strong>for</strong> CDM.<br />
. • Organization <strong>of</strong> project activities in<br />
cooperation with DNAs;<br />
. • Conduct <strong>of</strong> training activities/energy<br />
audits/o<strong>the</strong>r technical assistance leading to<br />
project identification;<br />
. • O<strong>the</strong>r activities including project<br />
publicity, consultations with donors <strong>and</strong><br />
multilateral <strong>development</strong> institutions<br />
present in countries <strong>of</strong> implementation.<br />
Immediate Objective 3: The objective here is to assemble a viable portfolio <strong>of</strong> CDM projects that could be<br />
pursued through partnerships with Austrian industry <strong>and</strong> to use <strong>the</strong> h<strong>and</strong>s-on experience in project<br />
<strong>for</strong>mulation to bolster <strong>the</strong> capacity building ef<strong>for</strong>t <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> project.<br />
Output 3: CDM Portfolio Development: <strong>for</strong>mulation <strong>of</strong> CDM project portfolio <strong>for</strong> each participating<br />
country in accordance with national priorities<br />
. • Identification <strong>of</strong> project opportunities (5-10 PINs per country);<br />
. • Implementation <strong>of</strong> training, project opportunity identification according to <strong>the</strong> project<br />
concept;<br />
