Description
Charged with CDM process. Final process of international approval
(acceptance to register) of the CDM projects and involved methodologies. At
present 8 Mexican projects are in the CDM/EB pipeline.
UNIDO has developed a large number of projects at Mexico to assist the
development of the national industry. Created a network of National Centers
for Cleaner Production, including the Mexican CMPL. UNIDO is at present
developing a project that focuses on assisting potential CDM recipient
countries to build the capacities required for launching CDM programs and
projects in the industrial and energy sector. The activities are designed to
cover all the stages of the CDM project cycle, through partnerships with
Austrian business and industry. The present study forms part of this UNIDO-
Austria project. Very recently (July 2005) UNIDO operates a Promotion of
Investment and Technology Program (PROPIT), the first in the Latin
American region and whose activities are potentially related to CDM.

Is conducting seven CDM related projects on renewable energy, energy efficiency,
transport, agriculture and forest at Mexico.
Supporting projects related to climate change. Potential CDM projects in
sustainable transport at Mexico.
Investment funds for energy efficiency and renewable energy. Is launching an
important Program for CDM.
Carbon Markets
CO2 emission factors from power plants are used frequently for Mexican CDM
project formulation.
Methodologies for emission inventories and emission factors used in CDM
activities.
