the USA and the Inter American Development Bank.
The Center aims to the incorporation of the concept of “Cleaner Production” at a meaningful
fraction of the economical more important industries, as well as those with a high pollution
potential. Also the concept is to be incorporated in the study programs of the universities of the
region, as well as in the environmental service provider entities. Also aims to the incorporation of
the concept in Mexican laws and regulations.
The Center acts as idea promoter, facilitator, consultant and supervisor, with the support of national
and international organizations and with the goal to reach at least a partial economic selfsufficiency.
The Center cooperates with governmental, private, social, academic and nongovernmental
organizations, and is conducting several clean production project lines with UNIDO.
The CMPL is active in several industrial and service branches, including:
• iron and chemical industries,
• sugar cane,
• galvanization,
• food,
• hospitals,
• buildings, etc.
and has made several studies for fuel and energy savings, potentially related to CDM. The Center is
cooperating with CANACINTRA (Mexico) and GTZ (Germany). The CMPL organize training
activities, including on line and at distance, and has published several books.
III.1.1 CMPL ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE
CMPL counts with a personnel formed by one Director, 3 Under Directors (Technical, Industrial
Links and Training) and 4 Heads of Department (Process engineering, Energy engineering,
Information and Administration). The total technical and administrative personnel add to 21 plus 4
administrative support personnel.
