Box 6596 JKPWB, Jakarta 10065, Indonesia E-mail: J.Poulsen@cgiar.org Abstract for poster Improved sets of criteria and indicators for sustainable management of large-scale plantations are described, by i) suggesting increasing emphasis on landscape scale and conservation and socio-economic issues, and, ii) ensuring that the criteria and indicators are sufficiently linked to practical management, specifically by establishing explicit links between the criteria and indicator sets and codes of practice, the latter used by the plantation companies for planning and management. These results are communicated to key international and national fora. This attempt is intended to improve the practical relevance and applicability of criteria and indicator sets. This will on the other hand hopefully increase the rate of adoption of criteria and indicators by largescale industrial plantation holders. 110
