PEP IV – PEP IV extends second year experiences, occurs at the end <strong>of</strong> the Endocrine<br />
section and lasts two weeks. Students may engage in service learning, community service<br />
and electives while also attending classes addressing core topics for medical practice.<br />
PEP V – This two-week period provides students electives, service learning and community<br />
service. PEP V begins at the end <strong>of</strong> the Reproduction and Development section. An<br />
important aspect <strong>of</strong> PEP V is a review <strong>of</strong> formative evaluations during preclinical training<br />
and enhancing skills required for assessments at the end <strong>of</strong> year two.<br />
PEP-Clinical is a two-week period in the summer semester that is devoted to special topics<br />
required for beginning clinical clerkship experiences. Among these are ACLS certification,<br />
CSA examination, review <strong>of</strong> licensing requirements, and OSHA and HIPAA training.<br />

The Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Enrichment Program (PEP) I and II are part <strong>of</strong> the first-year<br />
curriculum.<br />
Special notes:<br />
• Beginning with the Class <strong>of</strong> 2013, students are also required to attend one<br />
autopsy experience and complete a minimum <strong>of</strong> 4 semester credits <strong>of</strong> electives<br />
prior to beginning year III. Students may elect to complete these requirements<br />
anytime within their first and/or second year <strong>of</strong> study.<br />
• Dual degree students (D.O./M.A. and D.O./M.B.A.) may request a waiver <strong>of</strong> up<br />
to 2 semester elective credits.<br />
• Elective course IDIS 110 has additional restrictions that apply to the dual<br />
D.O./M.A. Bioethics degree program. Please refer to the IDIS 110 course<br />
description as posted to this catalog.<br />
