Student Handbook and the Office <strong>of</strong> Community Clinical Education (OCCE) Policies and<br />
Procedures Manual.<br />
The <strong>KCUMB</strong> Student Handbook covers policies governing student conduct and<br />
responsibilities. The Handbook is published yearly and may be amended at any time<br />
without prior notice.<br />
The Office <strong>of</strong> Community Clinical Education Policies and Procedures Manual is<br />
prepared under the auspices <strong>of</strong> the Executive Vice President for Academic and Medical<br />
Affairs, and Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Osteopathic Medicine. This document governs<br />
policies and practices for clinical clerkships.<br />
Programmatic Concerns<br />
Concerns that relate to the quality <strong>of</strong> the COM educational program, accreditation<br />
standards and/or are beyond the scope <strong>of</strong> the Office <strong>of</strong> Student Affairs may be submitted<br />
in writing to the Executive Vice President for Academic and Medical Affairs, and Dean <strong>of</strong><br />
the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Osteopathic Medicine. The Executive Vice President for Academic and<br />
Medical Affairs, and Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Osteopathic Medicine will respond to any<br />
written request in a timely manner, providing information about adjudication and<br />
resolution <strong>of</strong> the concern to the submitting student. A log <strong>of</strong> concerns submitted by<br />
students will be maintained by the Executive Vice President for Academic and Medical<br />
Affairs, and Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Osteopathic Medicine and will be utilized for quality<br />
and performance improvement.<br />
Publications/Media Relations<br />
The printing or distribution <strong>of</strong> any publication, or the use <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> name,<br />
logo or seal by students, must have the prior approval <strong>of</strong> the Executive Director <strong>of</strong><br />
Marketing.<br />
Students, faculty and associates are required to refer media inquiries to the Executive<br />
Director <strong>of</strong> Marketing, thereby ensuring that timely and accurate information, delivered<br />
in a pr<strong>of</strong>essionally accepted format, will reach the local and national media to help<br />
<strong>KCUMB</strong> communicate with its various constituencies.<br />
Regularly scheduled publications include FYI, the campus newsletter; the <strong>KCUMB</strong><br />
Communicator, the alumni magazine; the <strong>KCUMB</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Catalog</strong>; and the <strong>KCUMB</strong><br />
Student Handbook. Other publications fulfill specific recruitment, fund-raising and<br />
public relations needs.<br />
Research<br />
<strong>KCUMB</strong> encourages and is actively involved in basic science, clinical and curriculum<br />
research.<br />
