Preparatory Courses<br />

IDIS 001 – NBOME I Preparation<br />

This is a mandatory course for students who are unsuccessful in passing COMLEX 1.<br />

Students formulate a detailed independent study plan in conjunction with the Director <strong>of</strong><br />

Learning. This course is graded S/U based on passing <strong>of</strong> the COMLEX 1 exam and meets<br />

no clinical graduation requirement. Credit value is variable depending on the<br />

individualize plan <strong>of</strong> study and required time on task. However, first time enrollees are<br />

required to participate in a minimum <strong>of</strong> 37.5 hours <strong>of</strong> study per week for eight weeks.<br />

Course may be repeated for credit up to a maximum <strong>of</strong> 54 credits as approved by the<br />

Executive Vice President for Academic and Medical Affairs, and Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Osteopathic Medicine. Repeat credit is assigned based on weekly increments <strong>of</strong> 37.5<br />

contact hours (1.5 semester credits). Students should refer to the Student Handbook for<br />

additional details.<br />

1.5-18 semester credits<br />

IDIS 002 – NBOME II Preparation<br />

CE. Students formulate a detailed individualized study plan in conjunction with the<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> Learning. This course is graded S/U based on passing <strong>of</strong> the COMLEX 2-CE<br />

exam and meets no clinical graduation requirement. Credit value is variable depending<br />

on the individualized plan <strong>of</strong> study and required time on task. However, first time<br />

enrollees are required to participate in a minimum <strong>of</strong> 37.5 hours <strong>of</strong> study per week for<br />

eight weeks. Course may be repeated for credit up to a maximum <strong>of</strong> 54 credits as<br />

PE. Students are required to return to <strong>Kansas</strong> <strong>City</strong> to receive one-on-one instruction from<br />

a clinical faculty member as approved by the Executive Vice President <strong>of</strong> Academic and<br />

Medical Affairs, and Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Osteopathic Medicine. This course is graded<br />

S/U based on passing <strong>of</strong> the COMLEX 2-PE exam and meets no clinical graduation<br />

requirement. Credit value is variable depending on the individualized plan <strong>of</strong> study and<br />

required time on task. Credit is assigned based on increments <strong>of</strong> 1.5 credits or 37.5<br />

contact hours. Students should refer to the Student Handbook for additional details.<br />
