D. Dismissal from the Bioethics program<br />

1. A student may be dismissed from the bioethics program for any <strong>of</strong> the following<br />

reasons:<br />

a. Failing a course;<br />

b. Not maintaining the standards <strong>of</strong> ethical, moral, personal, and pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

conduct required <strong>of</strong> <strong>KCUMB</strong> students; or<br />

c. Not completing all required course work within three years <strong>of</strong> matriculation date<br />

(five years for students in the Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Enhancement Track).<br />

Good Academic Standing<br />

Students are considered to be in good academic standing when they meet the<br />

minimum criteria for continued enrollment. Refer to the Eligibility for Continued<br />

Enrollment section <strong>of</strong> this catalog for additional details.<br />

Academic Load<br />

Full-time status in all graduate-level programs equals 9 or more semester credits<br />

during the fall and spring semester, and 6 or more credits during the summer semester.<br />

Half-time status equals 6-8 semester credits during the fall and spring semesters, and 3-5<br />

semester credits during the summer semester.<br />

Dismissal and Checkout <strong>of</strong> Students<br />

The <strong>University</strong> reserves the right to dismiss any student at any time prior to<br />

graduation. Circumstance warranting such action may be <strong>of</strong> an academic, financial,<br />

health, legal or social nature.<br />

It is imperative that any student who leaves the <strong>University</strong> (becomes a non-student),<br />

for any reason, complete the <strong>University</strong>’s checkout procedure. Failure to complete this<br />

checkout procedure will cause the <strong>University</strong> to withhold all records pertaining to the<br />

student’s attendance. The checkout procedure is as follows:<br />

1. If the student is withdrawing, he/she must present the Executive Vice President for<br />

Institutional Development, and Executive Dean, Graduate Studies, with a letter <strong>of</strong><br />

withdrawal, or if he/she is requesting a leave <strong>of</strong> absence, he/she must present the<br />

Registrar with an approved request signed by the Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Biosciences;<br />

2. If the student is being dismissed, the Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Biosciences will<br />

inform the Registrar <strong>of</strong> the dismissal as soon as possible and communicate with the<br />

student who is being dismissed that checkout is in order;<br />

3. Before leaving campus, the student must secure a checkout form from the Office <strong>of</strong><br />

the Registrar and undergo an exit interview with:<br />

i. The Office <strong>of</strong> Financial Aid;<br />

j. The Office <strong>of</strong> Credit and Collections;<br />

k. The Library;<br />
