complete half <strong>of</strong> the bioethics degree requirements before their third year<br />

clerkships. The second half <strong>of</strong> the degree requirements are completed<br />

during their third- and fourth-year clerkships. Since dual-degree bioethics<br />

students are not required to remain in <strong>Kansas</strong> <strong>City</strong> for their clerkships,<br />

some <strong>of</strong> their coursework is online.<br />

2. One-Year Track (full-time) – This track allows full-time students to<br />

complete the master <strong>of</strong> arts in bioethics over a 12-month period. As with the<br />

master <strong>of</strong> science in biomedical sciences degree, some <strong>of</strong> these students are<br />

eligible for a seat in the next D.O. class, provided that they successfully<br />

complete the bioethics program.<br />

3. Career-Enhancement Track (part-time) – This track is designed for healthcare<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionals (e.g., physicians, nurses, social workers, attorneys,<br />

chaplains, medical technicians, etc.) who have developed an interest in<br />

bioethics pr<strong>of</strong>essionally and would like to pursue master’s-level training in<br />

bioethics. These students may pursue the master’s degree on a part-time<br />

basis.<br />
