some students. Academic skills, including time management, study skills and test-taking<br />

skills, may need to be improved to achieve maximum success. Students seeking<br />

assistance in these areas are encouraged to pursue the following <strong>University</strong>-supported<br />

services.<br />

A learning/education specialist is available to <strong>of</strong>fer academic skills workshops, in<br />

addition to providing individual academic support as needed. It is suggested that<br />

students seek this support at the first sign <strong>of</strong> concern about academic performance<br />

abilities.<br />

The Supplemental Instructor program provides limited tutoring at no cost to <strong>KCUMB</strong><br />

students. Students are encouraged to request confidential tutoring at the first sign <strong>of</strong><br />

poor academic performance or learning challenges.<br />

Library<br />

The <strong>KCUMB</strong> Library is open to students, faculty and associates from 7 a.m. to<br />

midnight Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and<br />

noon to midnight on Sunday. Special hours during vacation periods and holidays are<br />

posted in advance at the front entrance and by e-mail notification. Trained Library<br />

associates are available to answer questions and assist customers at all times. Reference<br />

requests are accepted by phone, mail, e-mail or in person. A variety <strong>of</strong> medical,<br />

biological, scientific, educational, and informational online databases and Web sites,<br />

including the National Library <strong>of</strong> Medicine databases, are available to access through the<br />

Library Web site.<br />

The Library provides photocopying capabilities at the nominal charge <strong>of</strong> five cents a<br />

copy. All photocopying in the Library is subject to the provisions <strong>of</strong> the U.S. Copyright<br />

Law (Title 17 U.S. Code). The Library does not give change for the use <strong>of</strong> the photocopy<br />

machine. Students are required to have exact change to use the copier (nickels, dimes,<br />

quarters, dollar bills).<br />

The GoPrint system allows each student 2,000 free copies <strong>of</strong> printing per academic<br />

year. If the allotment is not used, it will not carry over into the next academic year. After<br />

the allowed amount has been used, there is a charge <strong>of</strong> eight cents per page regardless <strong>of</strong><br />

whether one side or two sides are used. Extra GoPrint cards may be purchased at the<br />

Revalue Station located near the printers. The Revalue Station cards must be purchased<br />

with a single dollar bill, as the Revalue Station can only accept paper currency. Each card<br />

costs $1 and will have a credit <strong>of</strong> 50 cents. Once the card has been purchased, it can be<br />

used multiple times to purchase additional printing for any amount. Cards are treated<br />

like cash. The cardholder may use it at any GoPrint Pay/Release Station.<br />

The first floor <strong>of</strong> the <strong>KCUMB</strong> library contains:<br />

• Computer Center (16 computers, four printers)<br />

• Lounge Area (assorted newspapers and periodicals)<br />

• Conference/Study Room<br />

• Audiovisual/Interactive Media Center<br />

• Photocopy Machine<br />
