TIJ(' function of the Religious ,\ctivitics Committee<br />
is IVio-f()ld ill purpose. lIs primary ("unctioll is to<br />
provide for the students ample opportunity to congregatr<br />
togethn for tlw purpose of discussing timely<br />
religious questions and giving expression to their<br />
individual belie(,; on religioJl . Its secondary purpose<br />
is to acquaint the students with the differcnt types or<br />
ciJurchf's and religions.<br />
To accomplish the first purpose, the committee<br />
makes use or the beautiful chapel room which the<br />
school provides. In the chapeL nonsectarian services<br />
arc frequently ·held. This chapel gives the students a<br />
chanct" to \\'orship together when, as, if', and in whatsoever<br />
manner they desire. <strong>The</strong> living room wit II<br />
its big fireplace affords an excellent atmosphere fi)!"<br />
intelligent, wholehearted discussion. <strong>The</strong>se discussions<br />
of religious questions are conducted either by<br />
the students, Mr. C. E. Butler, the faculty advisor,<br />
or by prominent men in the business or professional<br />
INorid.<br />
To fulfill its second purpose, the committee under<br />
the leadership of James Godfrey, sponsored many<br />
visitations to the beautiful and historic churches in<br />
and around Boston. Some or the churches visited<br />
were the Christian Science Mother Church, <strong>The</strong> Old<br />
North (:hureh, Trinity (:hurch, and tlH" Wellesley<br />
Congregational (:hurch.<br />
