BACKGROCND<br />
Connelly comt's from a long lint' of oil men. He was<br />
born in California but has spent the greater portion of his<br />
life in and around the oil fields of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He<br />
has attended various private schools most of his life and<br />
vvas a student at Amherst tor three years before coming to<br />
<strong>Babson</strong> Institutr. Hr also attended summer s,i1oo1 at the<br />
l rniversity of California, Harvard l Tniversity, and Tul.~a<br />
Lniversity.<br />

(:onn('lly spent the summer or 1940 in th(' oil ('rlds as a<br />
junior enginec>r for the Sinclair Prairie Oil Co. :\t <strong>Babson</strong><br />
Institute, he has been deeply interestcd in all production<br />
problems.<br />
While studying in the Production Division, he prepart'd<br />
a compkte analysis of crude oil production over a<br />
period of years, and adjusted this analysis for seasonal<br />
variation. This important statistical survry has givcn him<br />
a hroad insight into the scope of the petroleum industry<br />
and its relation to National Production and Defense.<br />
